Future Commuter Trains
Sep 16th, 2009 | By Jane | Category: Rail NewsAlstom have unveiled their vision for commuter trains for the future. Although the vehicles will be made up of several carriages it will be possible to see from one end to the other.
The design would also enable passengers to board faster and would carry more people.
The design, known as the Xtrapolis is just one of a number of options being put forward to the Department for Transport as it considers options for the new Thameslink line through London. According to the train manufacturer, the design will also be quieter and more energy efficient than its rivals thanks to a regenerative braking system.
