More improvements for Inverness Station

Construction of new toilets and showers for customers has begun at Inverness Station. A new left luggage facility is also on the way.

The work is due to for completion during March 2010, and will further improve the ambience of the station which has benefited from a new waiting room, variable-height counter and REACT wayfinding signage for people with impaired vision.

Funding for the latest round of improvements – totalling almost £500,000 – has come from ScotRail in partnership with HITRANS, with the latter contributing £140,000.

Steve Montgomery, managing director of ScotRail, said, “This investment will further enhance Inverness Station, making it worthy of Scotland’s fastest growing city.

Frank Roach HITRANS rail development manager, said:  “We are delighted to support this sustained investment matching year-on-year growth in passenger numbers.”
