First Great Western is asking customers to pick up a pocket timetable as their annual December changes come into force next Sunday (December 13).

Over the past year, First Great Western customers have seen the best performance ever on the network, with 92.4 per cent of services arriving at their destination on time. This is five percentage points better than this time last year and the changes are designed to improve this even more.

Colleagues have been busy familiarising themselves with the various changes so they are in the best possible position to help customers get used to the changes that affect them.

A First Great Western spokesman said: “In the Westcountry we are introducing some new services as well as extending some existing ones as South West Trains’ services west of Exeter are removed.

“Some High Speed Services will be re-timed to allow the company to shave some time off selected journeys between Swansea and Paddington.

“And in the London and Thames Valley area, there will be an additional call at Maidenhead for customers travelling towards Paddington during the morning peak.

“There will also be an additional train between Moreton-in-Marsh and Oxford to help create more space for customers on the popular 0852 Great Malvern to Paddington service.”
