Customers can now enjoy top quality snacks and fair-trade drinks on board all long distance journeys with First Great Western.
The train company has swapped trolleys for Express Cafés on all its High Speed Trains, favouring panini grills, combi-ovens and coffee machines over microwaves and instant drinks.
The company, which now offers a wide choice of tasty treats to 52,000 more customers every week, is inviting people to relax and buy their food and drink on-board, rather than having to rush to buy food before boarding the train.
Food served on the trains has been created with the help of experienced staff who are well versed in on-board service, designed with the help of First Great Western’s customer hosts, customers will also benefit from a larger service counter and chilled display.
Barbara Fletcher, First Great Western Product Development Manager for Customer Service, said: “This significant investment is a real improvement for customers and indeed the environment in which our staff work. It means that all customers on these services can purchase freshly ground coffee and delicious hot food. We recently changed to Fairtrade hot drinks and we have also recently improved the quality of our hot products in advance of completing our modification programme. We are promoting both these products through a meal deal, so stay tuned to find out more details about this!”
