Work to install new public address systems at 39 stations across Strathclyde begins this week.
The updated systems will include automated announcements, including train arrivals, station calling points, and information relating to forthcoming engineering works.
Anne Gray, ScotRail’s communications and contingency manager, said: “We are continuing to improve the way we communicate with customers and are confident the new systems will be well received.”
The work will begin from Monday June 21 at:
· Six stations on the Barrhead line – Barrhead, Nitshill, Priesthill & Darnley, Kennishead, Pollokshaws West and Crossmyloof
· Seven stations on the East Kilbride line – seven stations: East Kilbride, Hairmyres, Thorntonhall, Busby, Giffnock, Clarkston, Thornliebank
· Six stations on the Paisley Canal line – six stations: Paisley Canal, Hawkhead, Crookston, Mosspark, Corkerhill, Dumbreck.
These will be followed from Monday June 28 at:
· Five stations on the Neilston Line – Neilston, Patterton, Whitecraigs, Williamwood and Muirend
· Four stations on the Newton Line – Kirkhill, Burnside, Croftfoot and Kings Park
· 10 stations on the Cathcart Circle – Pollokshields East, Queens Park, Crosshill, Mount Florida, Cathcart, Pollokshaws East, Shawlands, Maxwell Park, Pollokshields West and Langside, and:
· Cambuslang station, where new speakers will be installed
