What time does the Shanghai train station close?

phoenix asked:

I’m going to Shanghai on May 2 but my flight is on May 3. I’m planning to stay at the train station till the next day. Do they close or not? If they close, is there a nearby 24-hour coffee shop where I can sit and wait?

Hi , The Shang Hai railway station will not close as the trains keep in / out of the station , But you mentioned that you are gonna fly there, I am not sure if you are talking about the elevated fast train or not —-the one commuting between the airport and downtown , if so , it does close at night , but there are coffee shops inside the airport that you may relax , or simply go to the hour-rated hotel room there which will be better than killing time in the coffee shop .

If you talk about the railway station in Shang Hai , There will be some coffee shop , or Tea house nearby , Once you are out of the station , you will find the some hotels there outside , I remember nearby the Holiday Inn hotel outside the station , you may find it .

The main train station (Shanghai Railway Station) is open 24 hours a day. There are trains departing Shanghai at even 1am in the morning. I don’t believe there is a 24 hour coffee shop nearby but there is a KFC and McDonalds open till very late.

I don’t recommend staying over night at the train station tho. There are inexpensive hotels around the station (cost less than RMB200 a night) that you could check out. Its up to you.

Now if you are talking about the Maglev service between the airport at Longyang Station, that ends at 10.30pm I believe.
