Your questions about nj transit train

Betty asks…

faking NJ transit monthly pass?

I did something very stupid that is faking a NJ train monthly pass. I bought a real pass for the month, but I put it somewhere and could not find it. Instead of purchasing a new one since it’s almost end of the month …..I created one during the weekend and place it in my wallet. (I know it’s wrong, I feel shame) Later on I found the pass I bought, so both of them are with me.

Unfortunately, when the conductor check ticket, he also saw the fake one and called police. Get arrested by police and received a court date.

I regret all I did. Should not even think about creating a fake one. Also since i found my real pass I should not keep the fake one. I am not sure if the court will accept my explanation and the fact that I have a real card and try to present the real card to the conductor.

I just want to know, would I go to jail? a fine? a criminal record?
Is there anyway to get rid of criminal record? I heard that have some program that can dismiss the record.

Appreciate any response.

Travel Geek answers:

Losing your card will not be a good enough excuse for making a fraudulent one. What was the actual charge?

Get a lawyer or go to the courthouse one morning and find the Public Defender’s office. he will represent you for free.

If you have no prior charges he might be able to get you a diversion( no record).

No jail. A fine and a record at the most. DON’T miss court.

Most juvenile records can be sealed at 18 by going back to court with a lawyer and most adult records can be sealed/expunged in 3-5 years.

Is it necessary to get a lawyer? I don’t think I can afford them.
How much the fine will be for faking a ticket?
I don’t live in the county I got caught (actually another state), if I do community service I need to go to the county?
I was charged with NJS 2C:21-1A. (2), how serious it is?

Appreciate any response.
Casey
I was trying to fill in more information (the actual charge) and seek more opinions but I changed the question to vote by mistake.

Thanks for you advice and information.

By Subway From Penn Station exit to 34th Street and walk east to 34th Street/Herald Square Station. Take the B or D Train to Bedford Park Boulevard Station, then either walk eight blocks southeast to the end of Bedford Park Blvd and turn left on Kazimiroff Blvd for one block ( about 15 a 15 minute walk) or alternately catch the BX226 bus to the Mosholu Gate entrance.

By Light Rail From Penn Station take the 1,2, or 3 subway north, to Times Square, then take the S subway across to Grand Central Station. From there take the Metro North Railroad Harlem local train to Botanical Garden Station.

Your questions about buy cheap college books online

Betty asks…

What is a good website to buy college books online?

For cheaper than you would at a normal college?

Travel Geek answers:

You should use Half (ebay’s “sister” website designed for books) – It has prices that can range from 50% off to 85% off (and maybe even a bigger discount)!

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/8971-56017-19255-0/1?type=5&campid=5335964493&toolid=10001&customid=

I once had a textbook that cost $180 at the bookstore, but only $10 on this website, so I was able to save a lot! Students use this website to sell off their textbooks when their bookstores no longer buy back, so that’s why it’s pretty cheap.

Carol asks…

Where can I buy cheap textbooks online?

I spend about $900 in buying books for just one semester. I want to know a good place to get cheap college books because $900 is not easy to come by. Although, I don’t want to buy books that are cheap but which I can hardly get or learn anything from. Please point me to a good place/site that you have already tried.

Travel Geek answers:

Personally, I’ve had the best results from Amazon.com – good prices and low shipping, and you can type the ISBN number in so you get the exact same textbook. No worrying about getting an older edition or anything.

Half.com is also a great one too.

Good luck, and hope it helps!

Richard asks…

where can you go to store or online to buy college text books for cheap?

Travel Geek answers:

It is hard to find the books you want at a good price. Perhaps your local home campus has a bulletin board with the books that you need.

Wes Houck
www.StudentBookTrades.com

****List your books for free and search/trade/buy/sell with other students at the same campus, locally, or nationwide. See all the books available at your home campus****

Paul asks…

Nancy asks…

A cheap place to buy books for college?

Does anyone know a place, either a store, or an online store, where one can buy books for college for cheap?

Travel Geek answers:

Here are 29 places to buy cheap textbooks:

Abebooks.com
Free shipping and a way to shop 13,500 online booksellers at once.

Addall.com
Addall.com compares textbook prices across the web. It provides you with all the fine details – like taxes and shipping involved for each store.

Affordabook.com
Find discounted textbooks and novels.

Alibris.com
Alibris will connect you to independent booksellers across the United States. You can find some great deals here.

Allbookstores.com
Compare prices across hundreds of bookstores affiliated with Allbookstores.com – which looks a bit like Amazon.com.

Amazon.com
I’ve bought and sold my textbooks through Amazon.com many times. You can get connected to some independent sellers who offer great rates on used textbooks.

Also, if you are recommending spiritair, could you maybe possibly explain what the $9 fare club is and what it does for me?

Charles asks…

How can you get cheap airfare and find cheap accomodations but safe accomodations?

Want to be close to area’s that are touristy but not overly hard on pocket book. What is the conversion for U.S. dollar. Do we need euros? When is the best and 2nd best time of the year to go?
We want to go to Ireland

Travel Geek answers:

For Ireland avoid the peak tourist season July & August. The best time to go is April, May, June, September or October. The next best time is any time Nov-Mar. Ireland has mild winters, it doesn’t usually get below freezing and rarely snows. Summers never get really hot so there isn’t a huge difference in temperatures year round. Average temps range from 40F in January to 60F in July. Any time other than the peak tourist season you will find lower prices and more availability for accommodation. The current conversion the euro is $1.40 USD to 1 euro.

Joseph asks…

Please list some websites that offer a roundtrip ticket for $1,000 or under without the fees and taxes.

i’m traveling from new york to kiev at the end of july. and it seems impossible for me to find fares under 1,000 dollars for a round trip

Travel Geek answers:

I can. From where? Lots of countries use the dollar sign ($) and call their currency “dollar”. Please edit your question to add from where, and also when you need to travel. I’ll check back later.
