More Car Parking Spaces at Birmingham International Train Station

Hoorah! More car parking spaces can only be a good thing for rail passengers, so let’s hurry Virgin along into adding more car park spaces to the rest of its West Coas Main line stations!

I’m sure there’s plenty of commuters who simply can’t park at their main train station because it’s full – despite the sky-high charges to park at them!

Anyway, I digress, so Birmingham International train station is one of the first stations on the West Coast MainLine to benefit from a bigger, better car park.

Opening on Monday 28 September the new multi-storey car park will replace the previous one-level car park and add an additional 835 parking spaces, making a total of 2,225 spaces available. For the safety and security of users, the car park also has CCTV throughout with 24 hour recording.

Now here comes the not so surprising bit….because of the swanky new car park Virgin are hiking their car park charges….afterall why shouldn’t the good commuters of this world pay for the privilige of getting a car park space at the station car park?!?!

The new charging structure will see a £2 increase to the current £6 daily charge, unless you arrive after 10am when the price is reduced to £5 for the day on weekdays and weekends.

Out of the goodness of their heart Virgin are offering monthly, quarterly, six monthly and annual season tickets which gives a reduced rate. The new monthly ticket costs £98 effectively offering daily parking, based on 20 days use a month at just £4.90 a day. The annual ticket is prices at £980 and if used for just 45 weeks a year offers an equivalent daily parking rate of just £4.36 a day.
