Plans to roll out SmartCard rail tickets across Scotland have taken another step forward.

The overall rating of 90% in the National Passenger Survey is up one percentage point year-on-year – and seven points higher than the national average among UK train operators.
Satisfaction with punctuality and reliability is at 88% – up two points year-on-year. This score is also six points higher than the UK average.

Work to install new public address systems at 39 stations across Strathclyde begins this week.

The 150th anniversary of the railway reaching Girvan from Maybole will be celebrated on Monday 24 May when Provost Winifred Sloan of South Ayrshire Council unveils a commemorative plaque at the town’s distinctive art-deco station.
