All aboard Southern’s Brighton Marathon specials

Southern is putting on a series of special trains to ensure that everyone can get to the start of Brighton’s first ever full marathon.

At 9am on Sunday 18th April, runners will start from Preston Park and finish at Brighton’s Madeira Drive.

In anticipation of thousands of runners and spectators travelling to the event by train, Southern will be putting on additional trains from London to Preston Park and on the east & west coastways. Southern is also strengthening some services with additional carriages on some routes.

The additional trains will be:

Brighton Main Line

06:17 Victoria to Brighton formed of 12 carriages
Calling at Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Purley, Redhill, Horley, Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath, Wivelsfield, Burgess Hill, Hassocks and Preston Park.
The train will arrive at Preston Park at 07:38

07:05 Victoria to Brighton formed of 12 carriages
Calling at Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Redhill, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath and Preston Park. The train will arrive at Preston Park at 08:12

West Coastway

06:16 Fratton to Brighton formed of 8 carriages (arr 07 33)
Calling at Havant, Emsworth, Southbourne, Chichester, Barnham, Ford, Angmering, Goring by Sea, Durrington on Sea, West Worthing, Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham by Sea, Southwick, Portslade and Hove. This train will arrive at Hove at 07:33.

07:35 West Worthing to Brighton formed of 8 carriages
Calling at West Worthing, Worthing, East Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham by Sea, Southwick, Fishersgate, Portslade, Aldrington and Hove. This train will arrive at Hove at 08:06.

08:10 West Worthing to Brighton formed of 8 carriages
Calling at West Worthing, Worthing, East Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham by Sea, Southwick, Fishersgate, Portslade, Aldrington and Hove. This train will arrive at Hove at 08:41.

06:16 Fratton to Brighton formed of 8 carriages

East Coastway

06:44 Eastbourne to Brighton formed of 8 carriages
Calling at Hampden Park, Polegate, Berwick, Glynde, Lewes, Falmer, Moulsecombe and London Road. This train will arrive at London Road at 07:29.

08:17 Eastbourne to Brighton formed of 8 carriages
Calling at Hampden Park, Polegate, Lewes, Falmer, Moulsecombe and London Road. This train will arrive at London Road at 08:55.

Services on the Brighton Main Line:

05:02 Victoria to Brighton formed of 12 carriages (usually 4 carriages)
05:47 Victoria to Brighton formed of 12 carriages (usually 4 carriages)

06:32 Victoria to Brighton formed of 12 carriages (usually 8 carriages)

The services departing from Victoria for Brighton at 02 and 32 minutes past each hour between 07:32 and 19:32 will be increased from 8 to 12 carriages.
The services departing from Brighton for Victoria at 34 and 00 minutes past each hour between 09:00 and 20:00 will be increased from 8 to 12 carriages.
Arun Valley Service

06:04 Horsham to Gatwick Airport
This train will start from Pulborough at 05:46 and call at Billingshurst, Christ’s Hospital and Horsham, then as advertised. Passengers should change at Three Bridges for a service to Preston Park.

06:34 Horsham to Victoria
This train will start from Pulborough at 06:16 and call at Billingshurst, Christ’s Hospital and Horsham, then as advertised. Passengers should change at Three Bridges for a service to Preston Park
West Coast way service from Chichester direction to Brighton

06:06 Barnham to Brighton
This service will start from Chichester at 06:04 and call at Barnham, Littlehampton, Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham-by-Sea, Southwick, Portslade, and Hove.

The 41 minutes past each hour service from Brighton to Littlehampton will be formed of 8 carriages trains between 07:41 and 20:41.

The 50 minutes past each hour service from Littlehampton to Brighton will be formed of 8 carriage trains between 08 50 and 20 50.

East Coast way services from Eastbourne direction to Brighton

07:18 Lewes to Brighton formed of 6 carriages (usually 4 carriages)
07:30 Eastbourne to Brighton formed of 8 carriages (usually 2 carriages)

Ashford to Brighton and Brighton to Ashford service
This service will be operated as two independent services connecting at Eastbourne. The service will run as advertised. The Brighton to Eastbourne section of the journey will be run with 4 carriage trains, the Eastbourne to Ashford section will operated with 2 carriage trains.
